Vintage Clovercreek Honey Stoneware Crock

Marked “Clovercreek Indiana.” Sourced during a trip along one of the longest yard sales in the Southeast.

Measurements:

Approximately 5½ inches tall × 5¼ inches in diameter.

Maker / Markings / Provenance:

The front features a warm rust-brown country-store design reading “Clovercreek Honey,” with a central beehive, clover motifs, and “Clovercreek Indiana” beneath.

No pottery maker’s mark was observed on the underside.

Description:

A vintage stoneware honey crock with a warm cream-colored glaze, softly rounded rim, and nostalgic beehive decoration.

The surface has developed an especially appealing network of fine crazing, with areas of honeyed brown darkening that give the crock a naturally aged and collected appearance. The beehive, clover, and oversized “Honey” lettering bring the comfortable character of an old country kitchen or general store.

Bees and traditional woven hives have long been associated with household abundance, industry, and the gathering of sweetness. Here, the imagery is rendered in a nostalgic American country-store style, recalling early advertising crocks once used to identify pantry goods before modern packaging became commonplace.

This is a vintage decorative crock rather than an early antique advertising vessel.

Condition:

Very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks observed.

There is extensive allover glaze crazing, together with scattered staining and warm darkening, particularly near the lower portion and around the rim. These aged surface characteristics are visible in the photographs and contribute greatly to the crock’s decorative appeal.

The unglazed underside shows expected discoloration, firing texture, and surface wear from age and use. Please review all photographs closely, as they form part of the condition description.

Use & Styling:

A wonderful piece for holding wooden spoons, paintbrushes, wrapped utensils, or a small arrangement of dried stems.

It would also display beautifully empty on an open shelf or old cupboard, paired with cutting boards, baskets, ironstone, quilts, or other primitive and country kitchen pieces.
