Our Story

Rue & Relique is a study in objects that have been lived with.

Not simply collected - but held, used, and worn over time.

Here, a piece is never just a piece. It is a record of touch - of hands that shaped it, carried it, and set it down at the end of a long day, of quiet lives unfolding around it.

The softened edge of wood is not from sanding, but from years of use. The wavering surface of glass is not a flaw, but the mark of its making.

Patina, verdigris, worn linen, time-darkened paper - these are not imperfections, but evidence.

-that a home is not styled in a moment, but gathered slowly - through objects that have already known life, and are ready to be lived with again.

The Collections

Our collections move freely, as stories do.

From a forgotten coastline, to a mother’s kitchen where only her vessels remain, to conversations held by candlelight and the pieces quietly invited into them - each piece is chosen not for trend, but for presence.

Some are found close to home, in the quiet corners of the South. Others are sourced further afield - from estate rooms, forgotten shops, and the markets and streets of France.

Some gather around a place, a season, or a table - each one, a story taking shape.

There is no single category that defines a collection. Only a shared language of age, texture, and beauty.

Care & Consideration

Each piece is handled and documented with care.

Details are thoughtfully photographed. Flaws are disclosed. Imperfections are not concealed, but honored as part of the piece’s history.

Each piece is packed and wrapped with quiet intention, carefully prepared for its new home.

If something isn't known about a piece, it is spoken plainly. If something is missed, it is made right, and should the unexpected occur along the way, it is resolved with care and responsibility.

Because this is not simply a transaction - it is the continuation of your piece's story.

A Beginning

Rue & Relique did not begin as a plan, but as an opportunity.

What began as Rose & Wander & Co. became something unexpected - a quiet bridge to what would take shape over time.

In many ways, it was a place of stewardship - not a beginning, but a quiet passage. A way of gathering what already existed, honoring the life each piece had lived, and carrying it forward into new homes where its story could continue to unfold.

What followed was a shop built slowly, guided not by formal training, but by instinct, curiosity, and a deep respect for pieces that may be among the last of their kind.

Behind the Shop

Rue & Relique is one room within a larger house.

That house is Rue & Lait - where roots are tended and tables are set.

If the shop is the collection of objects, the journal is the life built around them.

It is where spaces are designed, lived in, and stewarded over time.

Together, they tell the same story - one through objects, the other through the lives shaped around them.
