Antique French Faux Tortoiseshell Wax Seal with Monogram

Regular price $115.00

An antique French wax seal, sourced in Paris, with a faceted faux tortoiseshell handle and silver-plated stamp head.

The handle has a beautiful warm amber-brown tortoiseshell look, with deep translucent tones that catch the light beautifully. The silver-tone mount gives the piece a refined desk-object presence, while the seal face is engraved with an interlaced monogram, possibly the letters A and C.

Small desk seals like this were once practical objects, used with sealing wax for letters and documents, but today they are just as lovely styled on a writing desk, antique book stack, tray, or placed in a cabinet of curiosities. This one feels especially Parisian in scale and detail, a small piece with a quiet, personal history.
