Antique French Floral Wooden Butter Stamp
Age / Period:
Antique, likely late 19th to early 20th century.
Origin / Source:
Sourced in France.
Measurements:
Approximately 4¾ inches × 2¼ inches.
Approximately 3⅛ inches deep including the handle.
Material:
Wood with metal screws securing the handle.
Description:
An antique French wooden butter stamp featuring three carved flowers rising from a small pot.
This is an especially good form, with a substantial D-shaped handle that makes the piece visually interesting from every angle and allows it to display beautifully upright.
Condition:
Good antique condition with wear consistent with age and former use.
The wood shows natural surface variation, rubbing, scratches, and marks that contribute to its aged character.
Please review photographs closely, as they form part of the condition description.
Use & Styling:
I would absolutely use this in the kitchen. Display it upright with the handle turned slightly to the side so both the floral design and the shape of the handle can be appreciated.
Hang it from a peg rack, place it on a kitchen shelf, or display it beautifully inside a cabinet alongside old ironstone, folded linens, and other collected kitchen pieces.
