Description:

An antique French gilt metal vanity mirror, sourced in Paris, with a beveled oval mirror, decorative hanging loop, and beautifully shaped handle.

The frame has Louis XV / Rococo Revival influence, seen in the scrolling movement, floral details along the edges, and wave-like metalwork that rolls inward toward the mirror. The beveling of the mirror follows that same sense of movement, giving the piece a soft, elegant rhythm from the metal frame to the glass itself.

The metal is not magnetic and appears to be gilt bronze or a bronze alloy, though it is listed carefully as gilt metal. The back has a metal plate with visible age, four screw mounts, and mirror loss showing through from behind, all adding to the antique character of the piece.

It may be used as a hand mirror, styled on a vanity, layered with antique papers, or hung from the original hanging hardware, which remains in very good condition.

Condition:

Very good antique condition with visible age, patina, surface wear, and mirror loss visible from the back. The beveled mirror is intact, and the hanging and mounting hardware are in very good condition. The back metal plate shows evidence of age, including darkening and wear. Any patina, oxidation, mirror loss, and surface wear are considered part of the antique character of the piece. Sold as is. Please see photos carefully.
