Antique French Wooden Wax Seal with L/D Monogram
A small antique French wax seal, sourced in Paris, with a hand-turned wooden handle and brass or bronze-alloy stamp head.
The wooden handle has a warm honey-brown tone and a classic turned shape, the kind of small desk object that immediately brings to mind handwritten letters, old papers, and sealing wax. The stamp head is especially pretty, with a scrolled metal setting around the engraved face and a warm aged patina in the recessed details.
The seal face is engraved with a monogram, likely the letters L and D. It has the quiet charm of a personal object, once belonging to someone whose initials were pressed into letters and documents before being tucked away and carried forward through time.
A beautiful small piece for styling on an antique book stack, writing desk, tray, tucking in a cabinet of curiosities, or layered French vignette.
